So, I had the appointment but I had no luck. No Visa for me today, I have to wait another day.
But tomorrow I will get it for sure.
So two more days in Mexico.
I hope all of you had a really good new year's eve and a rocking party.
I was lucky, I met two Germans and -again- three Canadians and could celebrate New Years with them together.
All in all, even though I missed you all badly and I would have loved to celebrate in Miami, the evening was a blast.
We were partying on the beach until 7 o clock in the morning, so it was quite fun.
After sleeping until 16.00 on the first of january, I just had dinner with the others and went to bed again
Yesterday I took the bus to Merida with Ryan the Canadian guy.
Merida is pretty awesome, the plazas are beautiful and the city and the people are way more Mexican than in Cancun.
I try to upload some pictures of Merida and of my stay in general pretty soon.
Today I had the first appointment at the consulate which was pretty boring-they just took a picture and my fingerprints. So tomorrow at 7.15 I have the real appointment where I - hopefully - can convince them to give me the VISA really quickly on the same day. (Cross your fingers for me)
Tonight we are going to watch some Mayan Dancers at the main plaza. I bet its going to be beautiful, I will definitely take some pictures and show them to you guys.
The time between walking through Merida and waiting for my appointments I spend in the "lobby" ( I think dictionnaries would disagree to call something like that "lobby" to be online, as there is again no internet in the room.
Me and Alberto (the 60 year old who is the owner of the hotel) are already really good friends He is watching all the Mexican shitty daily soaps and reality shows and I sit next to him the whole day as this is the only spot where I can catch internet. As we are not communicating because he is not able to speak English at all and I am- stilll not - able to speak Spanish we just sit there & smoke one cigarette after another. But he learned me two new words , table - la mesa and chair - el sillon
Not a big progress but at least something.
Ok Alberto starts talking. I should try to communicate with him
See you all soon.
Happy New Year's Eve to everybody
To make the most out of my „Birthday“ I decided to take advantage of my situation of being in Mexico.
And what would be better than spending the day at the beach.
I do not have internet in my room anyway and I have no intention to stay in front of the lobby the whole day to catch internet.
So for everybody who tries to reach me, I am very sorry, but I won't be online.
Also my cellphone is dead, as it somehow refuses to get charged, you can't reach me there (especially for Rene, you should tell that my Daddy )
I wish all of you a Happy New Year and I hope you are going to celebrate hard! Raise your glasses and get wasted
Mum, Dad, Christine, Corinna, Rene, and my little brother, I love you and I miss you badly. Looking forward to be back in Austria on the 14th.
And yes, I will be back by that time, no way I will still be in Mexico and if I have to cross the ocean by swimming :D
PS: The two quebecois people are celebrating my birthday with me, so no worries, I won't be alone.
I got it. Yes, I have my emergency passport saying that I am a rightful, moral Austrian citizen.
So finally today on the 30th December I was able to fill out the online application for my Visa with my new passport number
So thats my plan for the following days:
Tomorrow: Singing "happy birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me"
Sunday and Monday I am going to try to have something like holidays.
Monday evening: going to Merida
Tuesday: first appointment for my Visa
Wednesday: second appointment for my Visa
Wednesday evening: hopefully going back to Cancun with my Passport and my Visa
Thursday: flying to the U.S.
Guys, be proud of me. After having checked into the new hostel, and finding out there is again no internet in my room, I decided to have one day of doing nothing and just going to the beach.
This circumstance forced me to talk to people as it was really hot and I wanted to go to the water and I needed somebody to take care of my stuff. Next to me where to french speaking people so I asked them – and guess what – they were Montreal Canadians (no, no Icehockey Players, just Canadians living in Montreal). So we started chatting and in the end we spent the whole day together. The woman is now completely up to turning the whole New Years Eve thing into celebrating my birthday (No, no way we are going to celebrate New Years Eve, we are celebrating Silvia's birthday, oh it was Silvana no? :D )
But anyway, I met new people who are going to spend some time with me the next two days and I have again, the option to improve my French, let's see whether it works out this time.
I also received a message from the Austrian Embassy telling me that my passport is going to arrive tomorrow (30th December) at Cancún, so I will spend the day in front of the Consulate hoping that the passport arrives and hoping that there is somebody who is replacing the woman who took the day off. Secondly I am going to take pictures for the American Visa as the Americans – of course why should it be easy – have different regulations concerning how pictures have to look like.
So, stay tuned :D
